The Maari Sing Sing Digital Gallery
It all started when…
Ornate folding screens (called “Byung Poong” in Korean) are conventional part of performances of traditional music, song, and dance.
In an effort to enhance our performances with stage design and visual arts, we initially imagined ordering customized “Byung Poong” from master craftsmen from Korea. Often referred to “folding screens”, they are adorned with poems, calligraphy, paintings, etc.
However, we found this to be limiting.
We wanted to
And as well as consistent with our goal of marrying technology and tradition, we set out to create a “digital Pyung Poong”
We aim to make this a revolving “gallery space”, and invite artists to contribute digital art, poems, that will accompany our performances, or be a standalone installation.
A modular 8 screen “gallery space”, that can be separated into pairs.
